Azerbaijan and Ukraine Strengthen Economic Cooperation

Azerbaijan is strengthening its position as a key economic partner of Ukraine in the South Caucasus region. This was stated by the Ukrainian Ambassador to Baku Yuriy Gusev during his speech at the logistics forum.

According to him, the role of Azerbaijan in ensuring energy supplies to Europe and developing the Middle Corridor connecting the West and the East is of particular importance.

In the first seven months of 2025, the export of Ukrainian goods to Azerbaijan increased by 8.6%. In July 2025, Naftogaz and SOCAR Energy Ukraine signed an agreement on the supply of Azerbaijani gas to Ukraine via the Trans-Balkan route.

Recently, in an interview with Al Arabiya, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev drew a parallel between the current conflict in Ukraine and the annexation of Azerbaijan by the Soviet Union in 1920, calling both events a “Russian invasion and occupation.”
