Former adviser to the head of Dagestan sentenced to 10 years
The Babushkinsky District Court of Moscow found former adviser to the head of Dagestan Osman Makhachev guilty of accepting a bribe. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

According to investigators, in 2017 Makhachev helped a resident of Dagestan become the head of one of the municipalities of the republic. For this, he managed to receive 23 million rubles and went abroad. In November 2021, Makhachev was detained in Germany and then extradited to Russia.

In addition to the term, the court ordered the confiscation of the defendant's property and fined him 115 million rubles, and also banned him from working in government bodies for five years after his release.

Osman Makhachev is the younger brother of the former head of the Main Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise (MSE) in Dagestan, Magomed Makhachev, who was sentenced in June 2021 to 7.5 years in a maximum security prison colony for bribery. Their brother, Ashikmagomed Makhachev, was also convicted of accepting bribes while serving as the head of Bureau No. 19 of the Main Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise.
