A Crimean political prisoner-Muslim is transferred to the Krasnoyarsk Territory

Alexander Sizykov, a blind Muslim convicted for 17 years, from Crimea, is in transit in a correctional facility in Volgograd. The political prisoner confirmed that he was being transferred to the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Syzykov was released from the Simferopol pre-trial detention center in mid-December 2024. After he was arrested, the lawyers sought his examination and release. However, the requests were unsuccessful. The man has group I visual impairment - he was completely blinded as a result of a road accident.
Alexander Syzykov was found guilty of ties to the Islamic political party Hizb ut-Tahrir, banned in the Russian Federation. The defendant has been in a pre-trial detention center and under house arrest since July 2020. In May 2023, the Southern District Military Court sentenced Syzykov to 17 years in a penal colony. According to human rights activists, Hizb ut-Tahrir members are not being prosecuted for preparing a coup d'état and terrorism, but for criticizing the Russian authorities.
