A Russian tanker bound for Georgia was attacked

The Russian tanker MIDVOLGA 2, heading to Georgia with a shipment of sunflower oil, was attacked off the coast of Turkey, the country's General Directorate of Maritime Affairs reported. This is the third time in the past four days that Russian vessels have been attacked by naval drones near the Turkish coast.

Earlier, in the Black Sea, naval drones struck two sanctioned oil tankers, the Kairos and the Virat, which are now effectively decommissioned.

Against this backdrop, it was reported that Turkey nearly halved its imports of Russian Urals crude oil in November. Supply volumes fell to approximately 200,000 barrels per day, 100,000 barrels less than in October. Previously, Ankara had been one of the largest importers of Russian oil after European countries suspended purchases in 2022, second only to India in volume.
