Lawmakers from several Turkish political parties have jointly called on the government to establish direct transport links between Turkey and Abkhazia and to recognize Abkhaz passports as valid travel documents. According to the Turkish newspaper Jineps Gazetesi, this is the first time such demands have been publicly voiced at the interparty parliamentary level.

As of January 1, 2026, Lada cars are the leading brand in the North Caucasus region's vehicle fleet. They account for a remarkable 50.7%, equivalent to 1.3 million vehicles.
Toyota ranked second with a 6% share (151,700 registered vehicles). Hyundai ranked third with 5.9% (149,700 vehicles).
The top 10 most popular brands in the North Caucasus Federal District also included Kia (4.1%, or 102,300 vehicles), Ford, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen (each with 2.9% of the vehicle fleet). Chevrolet accounted for 2.2%, Nissan for 2%, and BMW rounded out the top ten with 1.9%. The total number of registered vehicles in the North Caucasus Federal District amounts to 2.5 million units.
