A member of the "SVO" was sentenced to 9 years for accepting bribes from subordinates in Chechnya

The Southern District Military Court sentenced the commander of a motorized rifle company Roman Cherkasov to 9 years in prison. He was found guilty of accepting bribes from subordinates for the opportunity to go on vacation.

The crimes were committed in 2023 in Chechnya, as well as in Crimea and the Zaporizhia region of Ukraine. In total, the case involves 18 episodes. The court did not indicate the amount of money received by the defendant, but 1.8 million rubles were confiscated from him.

The lawyers note that the court violated the requirements of Article 281 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation by announcing the testimony of witnesses who did not appear without their consent, and also refused to call and question witnesses for the defense. Cherkasov participated in the "SVO", was awarded the medal "For Courage" and Suvorov medals.
