The health condition of a refugee from Chechnya, 40-year-old Zhabrail Musikhanov, who is undergoing treatment in an Austrian hospital, is deteriorating. He suffers from a serious oncological disease - blood cancer.

The man refuses to take the prescribed medications, as he fears that they may harm him. As noted by the representative of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in Austria, Roza Dunaeva, several refugees from Chechnya have died in the country's deportation prisons in recent years.

Zhabrail Mursikhanov was previously detained in Austria at the request of the Russian authorities through Interpol. In the Russian Federation, he is suspected of involvement in the terrorist movement "Islamic State". He and his family have denied the accusations. At present, a second application for political asylum has been filed in his defense. According to Mursikhanov, the previous one is not listed in the documents of the migration service. Human rights activists claim that if he is deported, he faces torture and death.

Earlier, a rally was held in front of the deportation prison in defense of the rights of refugees serving sentences in Austria. The reason for the protest was the death of a young Chechen native in one of the Austrian prisons in January 2024.

In addition, refugees from Chechnya reported cruel treatment by employees of the camp in Croatia, where they were often unjustifiably placed on suspicion of extremism. In protest, they went on a hunger strike, but since there was no reaction from the Croatian supervisory authorities, they stopped the action due to health problems.
