Konstantin Zatulin, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, stated that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is "an enemy of Russia who has used us."

"He is an absolute enemy of Russia, who, for a time, having come to power, was forced to camouflage his intentions and his goals. We allowed ourselves to be lulled into believing that he would get used to it, that he would not go anywhere. But he used us. He made no secret of his views before becoming prime minister. He wrote about how we must get rid of the entire past, of Russia, that we must leave the CSTO, leave the Eurasian Union, and remove our base in Gyumri. It's simply delusional that we thought that, once in power, he would suddenly switch over to our side or abandon his convictions. In this sense, he is a completely consistent person. Therefore, he doesn't necessarily say all this out loud, especially when he meets with Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin in the Kremlin. But now he's dropped those masks, too. They were dropped in 2022 because we entered into confrontation with the West, which he's aiming for. And he began to implement this policy with increasing brazenness, volume, and scale," Zatulin stated.

According to him, if Pashinyan's party wins the upcoming parliamentary elections on June 7, Russia should not officially recognize the results.

As a reminder, the European Political Community summit took place in Yerevan on May 4-5, with the participation of numerous European heads of state and EU leaders. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also attended the event. Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia is not Russia's ally in the Ukrainian conflict. He also refused to travel to Moscow for the May 9 parade.

The summit and Zelenskyy's visit sparked a storm of criticism in the Kremlin. The Armenian authorities were accused of pursuing an "anti-Russian" course and attempting to pander to the West. The Armenian ambassador was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry to present a note of protest.
