Volunteers and emergency services personnel continued their search throughout the night for an 8-year-old boy near the village of Yandare in Ingushetia's Nazran District. As of the morning of June 16, the child's whereabouts, swept away by the Sunzha River, remain unknown.
Representatives of the Ingushetia Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that local residents and rescuers are continuing to search the surrounding area. The work is being hampered by the river's strong current. The possibility that the child may have drowned is currently being considered.
The previous day, the Ingushetia Investigative Department launched an investigation into the disappearance of a young boy. According to the department, two children born in 2018 were swimming in an unauthorized area. One of the children was swept away by the river current. The life and health of the other child are not in danger, the department reported.
With the swimming season approaching, agency officials strongly recommend that parents keep their children under constant supervision, especially near bodies of water.
