Suspect in execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war appointed minister in North Ossetia

Participant in the presidential program "Time of Heroes", Hero of Russia Yuri Abayev has become the Minister of Labor and Social Development of North Ossetia. The decree on the appointment was signed by the head of the region Sergey Menyailo.

Abayev stated that in his new post he intends to "direct all efforts to the comprehensive adaptation of the SVO participants to a peaceful and comfortable life." Previously, he served in the 70th Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment as a unit commander.

Abayev commanded a regiment based in the Zaporizhia region of Ukraine. Earlier, the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine (GUR) named him as one of five Russian military personnel involved in the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war in May near the village of Rabotino in the Zaporizhia region. His involvement in the crime is evidenced by intercepted radio messages, in one of which the commander gives the order to shoot the prisoners.
