A 19-year-old resident of Ingushetia may be jailed under a terrorism article due to posts on social networks

In Nazran, security forces detained a 19-year-old local resident on charges of justifying terrorism due to publications on social networks. According to investigators, in 2023-2024, the young man posted materials on social networks in which he justified the preacher of the media center of the Islamic State organization (recognized as terrorist) E. Yarakhmetov, known by the nickname "Akhmad Medinsky".

A criminal case has been opened against the detainee under the article "Public calls for terrorist activity, public justification of terrorism or propaganda of terrorism" (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). He faces up to seven years in prison.
