The United States and Armenia have begun implementing the Trump Initiative for Peace and Development (TRIPP) by establishing a joint working group. This was announced by US Deputy Secretary of State Alison Hooker at a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan.
Hooker noted that cooperation between Washington and Yerevan, along with progress in normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as Armenia and Turkey, could open up the South Caucasus as an important trade route. Pashinyan, in turn, praised the role of the United States and Donald Trump personally in establishing peace with Azerbaijan, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the agreements reached at the Washington Peace Summit on August 8.
The US Deputy Secretary of State thanked Pashinyan for the warm welcome and outlined the goal of her visit: expanding cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, regional connectivity, and security. She also noted the creation of bilateral working groups led by the Assistant Deputy Secretary of State to implement the summit agreements and develop initiatives proposed by President Trump.
