Armenia has appealed Russian restrictions on its product imports to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Yerevan hopes to have them lifted through the mechanisms established by the union. This was stated by Armenian Deputy Economy Minister Tigran Gasparyan, according to Armenpress.

According to him, the Armenian side discussed the restrictions with its Russian counterparts and presented its arguments. The issue has also been brought before the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

"We have filed a complaint and are hopeful and confident that the mechanisms will work to remove the obstacles," Gasparyan said.

He emphasized that Yerevan considers the measures imposed by Russia to be inconsistent with the agreements and principles in force within the EAEU.

However, when asked about Russia's statements regarding the quality of Armenian products, the deputy minister responded that Armenia is challenging the compliance of the restrictions with the union's rules.

According to Gasparyan, Armenia is using the tools provided by the EAEU to restore what it considers to be violated principles.

Restrictions on Armenian products have become a problem in relations between Yerevan and Moscow amid the dispute over Armenia's future in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). On September 1, on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Bishkek, Vladimir Putin and Nikol Pashinyan discussed Armenia's aspirations to join the EU. Putin stated that simultaneous membership in both the EU and the EAEU is impossible and urged Yerevan to decide on its course. Pashinyan responded that Armenia has no current plans to leave the EAEU and has not notified its partners of such a decision.
