The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has published a report alleging that Georgian authorities used chemical weapons during the suppression of pro-European protests in Tbilisi in 2024. The chemical weapon in question is bromobenzyl cyanide, a chemical warfare agent dating back to World War I, also known as "kamit."
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized that normalizing relations with Turkey and achieving peace with Azerbaijan are two independent, yet important, processes for Yerevan. He noted that artificially linking these processes could harm both, while establishing relations with Turkey could create favorable conditions for normalizing relations with Azerbaijan.
Mirzoyan also recalled the agreement on issues related to the TRIPP route at the Washington summit and expressed Yerevan's interest in its speedy implementation.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Ankara continues to prioritize stability in the South Caucasus and is working closely with Azerbaijan to strengthen peace. He noted that progress in normalizing relations with Yerevan strengthens hopes for achieving long-term peace.
