Armenia follows Azerbaijan in expelling Russian military personnel

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from the Tavush region, located in the northeast of the country, on the border with Azerbaijan.

“Russian border guards appeared there in one situation, but now it has changed significantly. The border is a symbol of peace, which means that the border guards of Armenia and Azerbaijan, interacting with each other, will be able to ensure its protection,” Pashinyan said.

Armenia has repeatedly pointed out the inability of Russian troops to provide support. As a result, Yerevan began to move away from Moscow and actually stopped military-political cooperation with it.

Earlier, the Kremlin confirmed the withdrawal of the Russian military contingent from Nagorno-Karabakh, which was there on a peacekeeping mission by agreement between Baku, Yerevan and Moscow.
