Azerbaijan Denies Accusations of Deploying Israeli Troops to Attack Iran

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry categorically rejected any suggestion that the country's territory is being used for military or intelligence operations against Iran, or the possible presence of forces affiliated with Israel in Azerbaijan. This was the ministry's response to an article published by CNN World, which, according to the Azerbaijani side, contains unsubstantiated accusations.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated that the CNN article was based on information obtained from anonymous sources and lacked any credible evidence. Furthermore, the publication allegedly failed to adequately reflect Azerbaijan's official position.

"Claims that Azerbaijani territory is allegedly being used for military operations, intelligence activities, or any other hostile actions against third countries are completely baseless. Azerbaijan has never permitted and will never permit such activities," the Foreign Ministry emphasized.

The Foreign Ministry also reiterated Azerbaijan's commitment to the principles of peace, stability, and good-neighborliness in the region, calling such publications an attempt to spread false information.
Baku expects CNN to retract the article, which it notes contains unsubstantiated claims.

According to information provided by CNN, sources report the secret deployment of Israeli special forces and Mossad units in southern Azerbaijan for the purpose of conducting reconnaissance operations and launching drones against Tehran. Operations to assassinate IRGC intelligence chief Rahman Moghadam and strikes on Nakhchivan Airport were allegedly coordinated from this area.
