Azerbaijan continues to evacuate people from Iran

Over the past 24 hours, 28 people were evacuated across the border between Iran and Azerbaijan, including two Azerbaijani citizens and two Russians. As of March 23, a total of 2,949 citizens from 76 countries have been evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan.

Among those evacuated were 488 Azerbaijani citizens and 325 Russians. Sixteen Indian citizens, three Swedes, and citizens of Iran and Myanmar also passed through the Astara checkpoint. The largest number of evacuees were Chinese citizens—722.

On February 28, Israel and the United States launched military action against Iran. In response, Tehran launched strikes against Israel and American military bases in the Middle East.
