A new shipment of Azerbaijani-produced petroleum products has been sent to Armenia via Georgia. According to the Trend news agency, the shipment originated from the Bilajari station in Baku.
The total volume of the cargo was 2,698 tons. The shipment consists of 48 railway tank cars, carrying 1,742 tons of AI-95 gasoline and 956 tons of diesel fuel. The shipment is being carried out by rail, crossing Georgian territory.
This is not the first such shipment. The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) first shipped its own petroleum products to Armenia on December 18. Then, 1,220 tons of AI-95 gasoline were shipped to Armenia. The shipment was also carried out by an Azerbaijan Railways train via Georgia.
Previously, media reports and official statements reported disagreements over transit tariffs. According to reports, the Georgian side initially requested a high transit fee, after which a decision was made not to charge for the first shipment of petroleum products. The parties subsequently agreed on tariffs for subsequent shipments, but the figures were not disclosed.
