The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned its ambassador to Armenia, Sergei Kopyrkin, to Moscow for consultations. According to the ministry's statement, this step is a direct response to the Armenian leadership's desire to strengthen ties with the European Union.
Georgian authorities have fined and expelled Azerbaijani opposition journalist Afgan Sadigov, banning him from entering the country for three years. The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that Sadigov's detention was due to insulting a police officer on social media, taking into account 62 previous administrative violations.
Despite Sadigov's wanted list by Azerbaijan since September 2024, the ECHR banned his extradition in February 2025. Recently, the Azerbaijani Prosecutor's Office dropped the criminal prosecution against the journalist, leading to the cancellation of extradition proceedings.
Afgan Sadigov, founder and editor-in-chief of the opposition Azerbaijani channel Azel TV, was first arrested in Tbilisi on August 3, 2024, on the basis of a fabricated Interpol search warrant at the request of Baku. In April 2025, the Tbilisi City Court released the opposition figure from extradition custody, placing him on bail. Following his release, the journalist continued his protest activities.
