Ingush native Dzhabrail Aushev, sentenced to life in prison for illegal arms and ammunition trafficking in the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack, attempted suicide in the Krasnaya Presnya transit prison. Doctors managed to save him.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who is currently visiting Georgia, met with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. Following the talks, the leaders made press statements.
Aliyev emphasized the mutual support of Baku and Tbilisi on the international stage, noting that their relations are a model for neighboring states. He stated that trade turnover between the countries exceeded $800 million in 2025 and could reach $1 billion by the end of the year.
The Azerbaijani leader stated that developing trade is key to strengthening peace in the South Caucasus, and this is already being achieved between Baku and Tbilisi. He spoke about the expansion of the Middle Corridor, the main transport artery for both countries.
"The countries of the region must focus on peace, stability, and security. These principles are being violated in various parts of the world, but our region must remain resilient to such threats. Georgia occupies a central position in the energy sector: Azerbaijani gas is supplied to 16 countries, and the route begins through Georgia," Aliyev said.
Prime Minister Kobakhidze, in turn, reaffirmed Georgia and Azerbaijan's desire to deepen cooperation, particularly in modernizing transport infrastructure. He welcomed the peace process between Baku and Yerevan.
"Georgia strongly supports peaceful coexistence, constructive partnership, and new regional initiatives, including the ongoing dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia," Kobakhidze emphasized.
