Baku appealed to the Russian Federation in connection with attempts to send Azerbaijani citizens to the "SVO"

The Azerbaijani authorities appealed to the Russian Foreign Ministry in connection with information that five Azerbaijani citizens were detained in Chechnya. Allegedly, they are being tortured and forced to go to the "SVO" in Ukraine.

Among the detained Azerbaijanis are Nihad Rzayev, Elkhan Shirinov, Vugar Magerramov and two others. They went to Chechnya to earn money and were arrested allegedly on the basis of violating migration laws.

The fact that three Azerbaijani citizens went to Chechnya and were detained there was reported by their relative, a resident of the Tovuz district, Tafdyg Rzayev. He complained that they were placed in a basement and tortured.

According to Elkhan Shirinov, Azerbaijani media outlets report that in Chechnya he and others were offered to join the ranks of the Russian army, but they refused. Then they were forced to sign a blank document. Then they were warned that if they tried to escape or refused to be sent to the "SVO", they would be taken out into the field and shot.
