On the outskirts of the village of Eshilkhatoy, a battle took place between units of the federal forces and members of the CRI WF. About 10 infantry fighting vehicles and two Ural vehicles were burned. The loss of the Russian side in killed and wounded amounted to about 60 people.

On August 26 and 27, special forces of the GRU of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation entered the regional center of Vedeno. The arbitrariness that often accompanies the presence of such units in settlements has led to a massive outflow, in fact, the flight of local residents. On August 27, many of them arrived in the village of Serzhen-Yurt.

At night, the village of Kurchaloy was subjected to mortar fire from the commandant's office, located within the boundaries of the settlement. The shells caused damage to the houses and outbuildings of local residents.

The fire from there was fairly regular. Mortars were placed on the roof of the building. The military explained their actions by the fact that they, they say, only respond to the shooting of militants at them. However, no one in the village believed these explanations. Recently, before the night shelling, they turned on the loudspeaker, from which the funeral march sounded. It is clear that during the attack they would not be up to it.

The military fired until they heard that one of the residents was injured. After the assassination of Colonel Sergei Kislov, the village was shelled for a week. After the current commandant was wounded - within ten days. As a result, the old man Saitov was wounded, who died a day later. The next night after his death, the shelling was repeated.

In the village of Goity, in the house at the address: Nekrasov St., 2, employees of the Russian law enforcement agencies in masks detained Abdul Muslanovich Edilov, born in 1976. Before taking him away, they conducted a search in the living quarters, the results of which are not known. Then, together with him, they hooted in a gray-blue UAZ-452 (“tablet”) car. Presumably, in the village of Khankala.

Relatives tried to organize a search for Abdul Edilov. However, nothing came of it. The district prosecutor's office opened a criminal case (No. 25482) on the fact of his abduction (Article 126 part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) only at the beginning of December 2001. Two months later it was suspended in accordance with Article 195 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the RSFSR. And after the republican prosecutor's office in July of the following 2002, having heeded the complaints of relatives, canceled the decision, on the same basis “closed” the case again.
The statement filed with human rights organizations indicated that Abdul Edilov was tall, 175 cm tall, weighed about 70 kg, had black hair and brown eyes. As special signs, relatives note his damaged right eye and a scar under it, as well as a birthmark on his head on the right side.

From 16:00 to 20:00 the roads leading to the villages of Novye Atagi, Starye Atagi and Shali were closed. The Russian military, blocking traffic in these directions, confiscated passports and Niva cars (both white), along with documents for them, from two local residents: the first lives in the village of Alkhazurovo, and the second in the village of Gikalovsky.
