Britain imposed sanctions on Georgian government-run television channels for promoting Kremlin interests

The United Kingdom announced sanctions against pro-government Georgian television channels TV IMEDI and POSTV. The move was motivated by the systematic dissemination of disinformation regarding the war in Ukraine.

According to the British, the channels broadcast information about the illegitimacy of the Ukrainian government, called Ukraine a "puppet" of the West, and accused it of attempting to destabilize Georgia. The UK explained its decision by saying that the content of these media outlets undermines the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and promotes the interests of the Russian Federation.
