Former Mayor of Ingushetia's Capital Transferred from Pretrial Detention Center to House Arrest

The Supreme Court of Ingushetia has softened the measure of restraint against former Mayor of Magas Usman Aushev. He was sent from pretrial detention center to house arrest after the defense appealed. A criminal case has been opened against the former official under two articles - abuse of office and fraud.

According to investigators, in January-February 2023, Aushev approved inflated estimates when concluding a contract for the repair and replacement of power supply networks in the capital of Ingushetia. The damage to the city budget was estimated at 1.99 million rubles. Soon after, Aushev resigned of his own free will and left the republic. In September 2024, he was detained in Chechnya.

In September 2022, Aushev was brought to administrative responsibility for violating the contract system in the procurement sphere. He was fined 400 thousand rubles.
