The International Press Institute (IPI) has expressed concern over new legislative initiatives by the Georgian government and ruling party that restrict independent media funding.
Chechnya and Kabardino-Balkaria became leaders in the number of voters in the presidential elections
The overall voter turnout in the Russian presidential elections on the first day of voting on March 15 was 36.5%. More than half of voters voted in 11 regions. Among them were Chechnya (56%) and Kabardino-Balkaria (53%). The leaders are the DPR (69%), Kherson region (69%), and Belgorod region (66%).
The lowest turnout was shown by the Altai Territory (20%), Vladimir Region (22%), Pskov Region (23%), Novosibirsk Region (24%), St. Petersburg (24%), Moscow Region (25%).
On March 16 and 17, two more votes will take place in the Russian presidential elections.
