Dagestan has secured fifth place in the ranking of Russian destinations most frequently chosen for trips with children during the autumn school break. According to data from the travel aggregator Sletat.ru, the republic accounts for approximately 4% of all family tour sales within Russia.
Ranking higher on the list were Krasnodar Krai, the Moscow region, Primorye, and the resorts of the Caucasian Mineral Waters.
Thus, Dagestan stands as the only North Caucasus destination in the top five for this category.
The growing interest in the republic coincides with a shift in family tourism away from traditional beach holidays toward trips that incorporate sightseeing, nature, and culture. This trend is particularly beneficial for Dagestan, given its diverse range of itineraries designed for travelers with children of various ages.
The Sulak Canyon and the Sarykum sand dune remain key attractions. Family itineraries also frequently include Derbent and its historical landmarks. The milder autumn weather allows visitors to explore the region's natural and cultural sites after the summer heat has subsided.
This year, the autumn school break generally falls in October and early November, though specific dates vary depending on each school's calendar.
