European Court of Human Rights recommended that France not expel a Chechen national to Russia, where he would be at risk of torture
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) asked the French authorities to postpone the extradition to Russia of the native of Chechnya Bouvaisar T. Earlier, the French court in Nice decided to deport the man at the request of Russia through Interpol. The Prosecutor General’s Office guarantees a fair trial.
The extradition request for Bouvaisar states that he may have been involved in the 2016 murder of a businessman and his girlfriend in Moscow. The suspect himself denies involvement.
Bouvaisar has lived in France since 2018, together with his wife and four children. He has repeatedly stated that there are security threats from the Chechen authorities.
