Europe has sent a mission to Armenia to counter interference in parliamentary elections

The European Union has approved the deployment of a rapid response team to Armenia to counter hybrid threats. The mission, consisting of 9 to 14 members, is expected to arrive in late March or early April for a period of 10-15 working days.

The team will provide advisory support to the Armenian government on crisis management and intelligence sharing, particularly in the lead-up to electoral scenarios. The mission will also assist relevant Armenian agencies in identifying instances of illegal election financing and will promote public awareness of potential external interference. Parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled for June 7, 2026.

Earlier, the Armenian Foreign Intelligence Service reported foreign attempts to pressure citizens and individuals of Armenian descent to support certain political forces. Based on these reports, the Investigative Committee of Armenia opened a criminal case, alleging the involvement of representatives of foreign intelligence services in exerting pressure through politicians, businessmen, and criminal organizations.
