The head of Ingushetia confirmed his brother’s arrest and announced his nomination for a new term.

Magomed-Bashir Kalimatov is under investigation. His brother, head of the region Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov, announced this at a meeting with members of the government of Ingushetia.

“As a brother, this event saddens me greatly, but the law is the law. I would like everyone to understand this - I adhere to this principle in my work and life. That is, there must be a clear understanding: the law is the same for everyone,” the head of Ingushetia emphasized.

Kalimatov said that he was going to run for a new term: “In September we should have elections for the head of Ingushetia. I hope the people and parliament will support me.”

In May, a court in Moscow arrested Magomed-Bashir Kalimatov, the former head of the region's federal postal service department. He is suspected of organizing the theft of budget funds with the assistance of the head of the Pension Fund for Ingushetia, Islam Seinaroev.
