German Foreign Minister Assessed Good Chances of Georgia to Join EU

Georgia’s main task is to overcome political polarization, restore confidence and undertake credible reforms. Their implementation is necessary if Georgia is to join the European Union. This was stated during the visit to Tbilisi by German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbok.
The government alone, without the support of civil society, will not be able to bring Georgia into the European Union. I was very impressed when Georgian men and women were waving EU flags in the streets of Tbilisi, and this contributed to the development of civil society. They have faith and aspiration to European values», - said the head of the German Foreign Ministry.
According to Berbok, Georgia needs to implement 12 recommendations in order to become an EU candidate. Among other things - the development of independent media and civil society, the establishment of relations with the opposition, the removal of oligarchs from the levers of power, etc.
