The head of the Kabardino-Balkarian Ministry of Emergency Situations is suspected of accepting a large bribe

In the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, Major General Mikhail Nadezhin, the head of the republic's Ministry of Emergency Situations, has been detained on suspicion of bribery. Officers from the Economic Security Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted searches of his home and workplace. The searches were part of a criminal investigation into a case of bribery on an especially large scale.

According to investigators, the bribe of 2 million rubles was received from businessman Anzor Nogmov. In exchange for the payment, Nadezhin allegedly agreed to sign necessary fire safety documents at facilities without conducting actual inspections.

Mikhail Nadezhin has held the position of head of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations since 2014.
