Georgia celebrates Independence Day

On May 26, Georgia celebrates the main state holiday under the slogan "With love for freedom!". The celebrations began with the ceremony of taking the oath by the servicemen.

The most intense program of the holiday will be in Tbilisi. The main part of the events will take place on Freedom Square and Rustaveli Avenue.

105 years ago, on May 26, 1918, the democratic government of Georgia declared the country's independence from the Russian Empire. The republic lasted only two and a half years and was Sovietized. In 1991, after the collapse of the USSR, Georgia again declared its independence, which is already 32 years old.
