Former Georgian Interior Ministry official Lasha Shergelashvili, who served as the head of the Armaments Department of the Special Operations Directorate, said on Formula TV that a banned substance was used to suppress a protest outside the Central Election Commission in 2020. When asked if he had any suspicions, he replied that he "knew for sure that it was used" as he was there at the time.
Georgia unconditionally supports the territorial integrity of Armenia, stability and peace in the South Caucasus. Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze spoke about this at a joint briefing with his Armenian counterpart Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan.
“We talked in detail about the processes taking place in the region and emphasized the importance of our joint efforts in solving problems. I hope that the process of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan will ultimately be crowned with success. Georgia is ready to play its positive role in ensuring peace and stability in our region ", Irakli Kobakhidze said after a meeting with Nikol Pashinyan.
According to Pashinyan, Georgia is not only interested in the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, but is also trying to facilitate this process with effective steps.
Also, the prime ministers of Georgia and Armenia opened a new embassy building in Yerevan. Georgia acquired it this year, and now for the first time the country has a diplomatic mission in Armenia in its own building.
