The new acting head of Dagestan, Fyodor Shchukin, has decided to dismiss the entire republican government. Magomed Ramazanov, who served as deputy presidential plenipotentiary representative in the Far Eastern Federal District and has experience with the FSB, was previously appointed to the vacant position of chairman of the regional government by presidential decree.
Georgians See Present Russia as a Threat
The overwhelming majority of Georgian citizens consider Russia the greatest political threat to their country. Eighty-seven per cent of the respondents to the International Republican Institute survey hold this view.
76% of respondents perceive Russia as an economic threat. Moreover, as many people believe that Russia’s aggression against Georgia continues. Only 5% believe that the aggression is over and unlikely in the future. Another 17% are sure that it has ended, but most likely will continue.
