Ingushetia and Chechnya are among the top ten regions with the lowest crime rates

According to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, in the first nine months of 2025, the fewest crimes were recorded in the Sirius federal territory (457), the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (491), and the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug (515). Ingushetia (1,530) and Chechnya (2,020) also made the top ten regions, ranking fourth and eighth, respectively.

Among the federal districts, the lowest crime rate was recorded in the North Caucasus Federal District (53,022 crimes), while the highest was in the Central Federal District (298,981 crimes).

In total, almost 1.4 million crimes were recorded in Russia from January to September 2025, a 5.4% decrease compared to the same period in 2024.

A Moscow court has extended the arrest of blogger Arsen Markaryan, who was detained in August, by two months. According to the press service of Moscow's courts of general jurisdiction, Markaryan is charged with insulting the memory of defenders of the Fatherland (Part 4, Article 354.1 of the Russian Criminal Code).
