French President Emmanuel:
"I am pleased to continue working with you to further strengthen our cooperation, support Armenia's peace and sovereignty, and advance the process of rapprochement with Europe."
European Council President António Costa:
"The people of Armenia voted for a future based on peace, stability, and closer cooperation with its neighbors and the world. The EU and Armenia continue to strengthen their partnership, creating new opportunities in energy, trade, and digitalization."
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen:
"The spirit of the Velvet Revolution of 2018, which you led, is alive and well... Armenia is moving ever closer to Europe."
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy:
"The elections in Armenia were democratic and free. The result of your victory is the sovereignty, independence, and rights of the Armenian people to independently choose their path of development. Now is a critical moment when Brussels must provide Armenia with real support to tangibly improve the lives of its citizens through rapprochement with Europe."
Former Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili:
"Armenia, your struggle is also our struggle. These elections will determine your democratic European future. We are with you!"
Nikol Pashinyan himself stated that the people of Armenia, by voting, stood up to defend the state, independence, future, peace, and Armenia.
"The three-headed war party suffered a crushing defeat. This is an important, but not final, result. The people also clearly expressed their will. The criminal-oligarchic system associated with this political force must be eradicated from Armenia," the Prime Minister said.
According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission, Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract party won 49.81% of the vote.
Two opposition forces considered pro-Russian also entered parliament: Russian billionaire Samvel Karapetyan's Strong Armenia party with 23.29% of the vote and former President Robert Kocharyan's Armenia bloc with 9.94%. Another opposition party, Prosperous Armenia, failed to gain entry into parliament, having received 3.99% of the vote. It failed to overcome the 4% threshold.
Civil Contract has been granted the right to form the country's government on its own.
