The Southern District Military Court sentenced Usman Elsanov to 16 years in a maximum-security penal colony. He was accused of participating in an armed attack on police officers in Chechnya in 2004.

In IK-1 of the Tambov region, Crimean Tatar human rights activist Server Mustafayev, who was sentenced to 14 years, is losing his sight. He has been in strict conditions of detention since February.
The wife of the Crimean Tatar notes that her husband's vision began to deteriorate in the pretrial detention center. At that time, he was prescribed glasses. In strict conditions of detention, the problem worsened due to a lack of sunlight.
Server Mustafayev was arrested in 2018, and since then, due to his long stay in the pretrial detention center and the colony, he has also developed heart problems. The human rights organization Front Line Defenders filed a complaint with the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation about the failure to provide the prisoner with medical care, after which he was assigned a full examination.
Earlier, the court rejected an appeal against the decision on the claim for violation of Mustafayev's rights. The political prisoner was deprived of his Koran and medications, and was not allowed to speak Crimean Tatar during calls with his family. He was also repeatedly placed in solitary confinement.
Server Mustafayev is the coordinator of the public association "Crimean Solidarity", which provides legal, informational and social assistance to the families of political prisoners in Crimea. In 2020, the Southern District Military Court sentenced him to 14 years in prison on charges of participating in the Islamic party "Hizb ut-Tahrir". It is banned in the Russian Federation, but operates freely in Ukraine and other countries of the world and Europe.
