Crimean Tatar political prisoner placed in strict isolation conditions

Crimean Tatar Eskender Abdulganiyev was sent to a single cell-type facility (SCH) for six months in a Kemerovo colony.

Earlier, after being transferred from a Vladimir prison to colony No. 41 in the Kemerovo region, Abdulganiyev was immediately placed in a punishment cell. The reasons for the tightening of his conditions of detention were not disclosed to him. In addition, Abdulganiyev was declared a “malicious violator prone to constant violations” and placed on a preventive register.

Recall that in the SCH and SHIZO, prisoners cannot see their relatives, receive packages, or visit a doctor. The maximum time of placement is 15 days, but many convicts are there for months.

In November 2020, Eskender Abdulganiyev was sentenced to 12 years in prison. He was found guilty of activities of the organization Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is banned in Russia. In many countries around the world, it operates without restrictions.
