Ramiz Mehdiyev, the former head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, has been placed under house arrest for four months. He is accused of attempting to seize state power, treason, and laundering criminally acquired property.

The Military Court of Appeal in Vlasich refused to review the verdict of the Master of Islamic Sciences, Vadim Bektemirov. He was imprisoned for 11 years in a strict regime colony for his participation in the Muslim movement «Hizb ut-Tahrir».
Bektemirov’s lawyer emphasized that according to the federal law of 2006 «On countering terrorism» «Hizb ut-Tahrir» is not classified as a terrorist organization and there were no grounds for instituting criminal proceedings.
