A RIA Novosti study revealed significant differences in car affordability across Russian regions. The worst situation is observed in the North Caucasus republics, where only a small proportion of families can afford to purchase and maintain a new car on credit.
Least of all accidents with victims recorded in Chechnya
There are 13.8 road accidents with victims per 100,000 vehicles in Chechnya. This is seven times lower than the national average. At the end of the ranking are North Ossetia, where the number of accidents per 100 thousand vehicles was 150.4, and Karachay-Cherkessia (152.8).
In general, the accident rate on the roads has increased throughout the country. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in Russia in the first half of 2023, 56.3 thousand accidents with victims were registered, which is 5.1% more than in the same period in 2022. The number of deaths in road accidents increased by 4.5% compared to the first half of 2022.
