Authorities in Russia’s North Ossetia republic have said they are taking measures to protect Karina Kodzayeva, who became the target of an online harassment campaign after posts published by platforms affiliated with the Caucasian Community movement. In a response to journalist Ksenia Sobchak’s appeal, the office of the regional human rights commissioner said the case is under the personal supervision of regional head Sergei Menyaylo and that law enforcement agencies may seek to block channels used to distribute unlawful content and identify those responsible for administering them.
The Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested the mayor of the city of Kizilyurt, Magomed Magomedov, until December 2. He is accused of embezzlement or embezzlement committed by an organized group, as well as on an especially large scale (Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code).
In addition to Magomedov, the head of the Department of the Ministry of Sports of Dagestan, Khalitbeg Makhachev, was also detained. Both were escorted to Moscow, their homes and workplaces were searched. Jewelry, several dozen jars of caviar and illegally stored firearms were found in Magomedov’s house.
The authorities of Kizilyurt canceled the celebration of the city's 60th anniversary, explaining this by the lack of festive mood. In addition, the event was initiated by Magomedov at the expense of businessmen.
