Mikhail Saakashvili Declares His Critical Condition and Need for Assistance Abroad

The convicted ex-President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili, who is temporarily in the clinic, wrote on social networks that he will die soon unless he receives proper medical care outside the country.

I continue to call on the United States and the international community to do everything possible to save my life. For this it is necessary to exert diplomatic pressure on the Georgian government and impose economic sanctions against Ivanishvili and his associates», said Saakashvili, calling himself a political prisoner.

The ex-president’s weight dropped from 118 to 62 kilograms at 195 centimeters. The doctors warned that with the downward trend the situation would become irreversible. Doctors of the clinic «Vivamed», where the politician is temporarily undergoing treatment, said that he refused the proposed course of treatment and expressed distrust to the staff.
Georgian authorities agree to the presence of foreign doctors to treat Mikhail Saakashvili, but refuse to release him abroad. He has repeatedly accused Bidzina Ivanishvili, founder of the ruling party «Georgian Dream» in his arrest and persecution.
