Ministry of Internal Affairs: 27 members of illegal armed groups were eliminated in the North Caucasus
In 2024, 27 members of illegal armed groups were eliminated in the North Caucasus, another 135 were detained. This was reported by the head of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev.
 
Also, according to him, the number of extremist crimes in the Russian Federation in 2024 increased by a quarter, the activities of 8 extremist organizations were banned.
 
As for the personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the personnel shortage is growing - the number of vacancies exceeded 172 thousand, having increased by 33 thousand over the year, Kolokoltsev noted. In a number of regions, there is a shortage of up to 30% of employees, and in some district departments, more than half of the positions are vacant. Investigators and drug control officers are in particular shortage. Over the past five years, the number of outfits has decreased by 25%, and district police officers have been almost completely renewed.
