A criminal case has been opened against former senator from the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic, Rauf Arashukov, who is serving a life sentence in the Black Dolphin penal colony. He is accused of bribing a prison employee through a lawyer. For 3 million rubles, he wanted to receive unlimited visits and the right to choose his cellmates. The FSIN employee told the security forces about the offer, and recorded all subsequent meetings on camera.

Arashukov recently published an apology to the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, on his Instagram page through his lawyer. In the post, he asked for forgiveness for all the mistakes he made, and claimed that he never intentionally did anything that could anger or offend Kadyrov.

In December 2022, former adviser to the CEO of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz LLC Raul Arashukov and his son, former senator from the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Rauf Arashukov, were sentenced to life imprisonment. They were found guilty in a criminal case on the creation of a criminal community, murders and thefts. The investigation found that Rauf Arashukov, on the orders of his father, organized the murders of the deputy chairman of the Adege-Khese youth movement Aslan Zhukov and adviser to the head of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Fral Shebzukhov. In addition, the father and son were involved in the theft of gas worth 4.4 billion rubles.
