Fertility collapsed in the North Caucasus

The regions of the North Caucasus Federal District, which previously "raised" the overall low birth rates in the Russian Federation, showed the maximum drop. The birth rate in relation to the local population in January-April was the lowest in at least the last 13 years. The fall in the birth rate was recorded in Dagestan, Chechnya, KBR, KChR, North Ossetia.

If we talk about the Russian Federation as a whole, then in April the birth rate reached its lowest level for the entire 21st century. Mortality now exceeds it by 1.5 times.

According to the calculations of independent demographers, the losses of Russians in the war with Ukraine are already a third higher than those in the 10 years of the Soviet war in Afghanistan.
