Stavropol Region Refuses to Have Fireworks on May 9

There will be no fireworks in Stavropol on May 9 to celebrate Victory Day. Governor Vladimir Vladimirov cited a popular vote he held on social media – allegedly the majority of “voters” voted against it.

“Opinions were almost equally divided. This is understandable: the Victory Fireworks are an important tradition for us. Nevertheless, more than half of the participants spoke out in favor of not holding the Fireworks this year. That’s what we’ll do,” the head of the region wrote on his Telegram channel.

Vladimir Vladimirov thanked everyone who took part in the vote and expressed their position. He added that the authorities are continuing to work on the festive program for Victory Day.
