Третий президент Грузии Михаил Саакашвили прокомментировал недавнюю встречу президента Азербайджана Ильхама Алиева и премьер-министра Армении Никола Пашиняна.
Alan Khokhoev, a former police officer from North Ossetia, sentenced to 10 years in a maximum-security prison colony for torture resulting in death, died in the war with Ukraine.
In 2021, Khokhoev and nine of his former colleagues were convicted of torturing Vladimir Tsakaev in 2015, leading to his death. Tsakaev's widow spent several years seeking criminal charges against the security forces.
The sentence was handed down on several counts, including "intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting through negligence in the death of the victim," and included imprisonment and stripping of rank.
The investigation established that Tsakaev was suffocated with a bag and beaten during police interrogation. In March 2023, the convictions of all ten police officers were overturned, and in October of that year, the case was returned to the prosecutor's office. After the full-scale invasion began, Khokhoev enlisted in the war with Ukraine from prison.
