During the annual "Year in Review" press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin, responding to a question about support for young families, noted the tradition of early marriages in the North Caucasus. He said he believed this was "right" and suggested "following their example," citing Ramzan Kadyrov's large family.
A tourist from Poland who went missing in Chechnya has been found
Polish citizen Katarzyna Marciniuk, who disappeared more than a month ago in the Chechen village of Itum-Kali on the border with Georgia, has contacted her. This was reported by her sister Anna Ignachak. According to her, Katarzyna was hitchhiking around Crimea and the North Caucasus. She is currently in Russia, but plans to return home in two weeks.
According to the "official version," as Anna Ignachak put it, the Polish tourist's phone was stolen and she was only able to contact her relatives the day before. However, it is possible that Marciniuk's disappearance has other reasons. Her relatives confirmed that the Russian embassy has not provided any assistance in the search.
Previously, tourists were detained in the Chechen village of Itum-Kali on the border with Georgia. In 2021, Omsk resident Ivan Davydov was stopped and searched by FSB officers, and then taken to the station.
