Nevinnomyssk hit by drone attack – chemical plant fire started

Drones again attacked the industrial zone of Nevinnomyssk in Stavropol Krai on the night of May 20. A series of explosions triggered a fire in the city – according to preliminary reports, the blaze originated at the Azot chemical plant.

Nevinnomyssk Mayor Mikhail Minenkov reported the operation of air defense systems and an "air collision." Residents were urged to remain indoors and seek shelter in safe locations.

Later, Stavropol Krai Governor Vladimir Vladimirov stated that the target of the attack was the city's industrial zone. He added that some of the drones were shot down by air defense systems.

This is not the first time that Nevinnomyssk Azot has come under attack. The plant was attacked in January, March, and May of this year, and repeatedly in 2025.

The plant is part of the EuroChem holding company. Reuters previously reported that Nevinnomyssk Azot and Novomoskovsk Azot supplied chemical components used in the production of explosives for artillery ammunition.
