At noon, in the Zavodskoy district of Grozny, the Russian military fired on a passenger bus. According to eyewitnesses, one person died on the spot, and several received injuries of varying severity. It was not possible to establish the names of the killed and injured.

At about 11 am, an accident occurred at checkpoint No. 27 (near the Minutka Square) in Grozny. A military Ural (registration number 317 15/RUS) collided with a dark blue VAZ2106 car belonging to a local resident. In addition to the driver, there were three other women and a child in it. In the city of Shali, A.I. Askhabov was abducted by unknown armed men. The relatives applied to the law enforcement agencies and, after long delays, on October 9, 2002, the prosecutor's office of the Shali district opened a criminal case (No. 59243) on this fact. In accordance with Article 208, paragraph 1 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, it was suspended on December 9, 2002.
